Mount Carmel College is a premier institution for women’s education in India. Established in 1948, it is run by the sisters of the CSST order. The college was first located at Trichur and was affiliated to Madras University. However, it was transferred to Bangalore in 1948, and began operations on the 7th of July, 1948 with just 50 students on its rolls. While today Mount Carmel Bangalore was granted autonomous status in September 2005 & was re-accredited with an A + status by National Assessment and Accreditation Council in 2006.

Mount Carmel College has also established an Institute for Management Studies (MCIM) to provide women students with an opportunity to pursue management education.
