Christ University was established on July 15, 1969 as Christ College under Bangalore University. Christ University is a UGC recognized deemed Private university in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. The first indigenous Syrian Catholic religious congregation in India.

Christ College was recognized by the University Grants Commission of India, (UGC) on 17 June 1972. It was accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), a UGC-funded body, in 1998 and reaccredited in 2005.

Initially founded as a constituent college of Bangalore University, it was given autonomous status in 2001. Later, Christ College was granted ‘Deemed to be University’ status in 2008 under the recommendation of UGC

CHRIST (Deemed to be University) was proactive to define and redefine its mission and strategies reading the signs of the time. Established in the year 2002 as Centre for Career Advancement (CCA) and upgraded to Department of Professional Studies (DPS) in 2007.

B.Com. Professional is a bachelor degree course in commerce. The main objective of the course is to create professionals who can deal well with economic and financial matters. The course helps the candidate in developing managerial skills along with accounting skills.

B.Com (Professional) programme is designed for young aspiring management accounting professionals to equip them for higher career placement opportunities.

Professional is a bachelor degree course in commerce. The main objective of the course is to create professionals who can deal well with economic and financial matters. The course helps the candidate in developing managerial skills along with accounting skills.

Basics of taxation, law, e-commerce, etc. are covered under the course. After completing the academic degree, the candidate can try for jobs in banks, in financial organizations, in marketing firms, and so on.

Placements & Career Guidance

The Placement Office facilitates the students to explore the world of employment and new career avenues. It also helps students in career planning through counselling where they gather information about themselves in terms of their interests, aptitudes and abilities so that they can choose their career more effectively.

The objective of the Placement Office is also on the professional development of the students by training them towards employability skills such as resume building, group discussion and interview skills which in turn helps the students to move into a desired occupation and/or apply in prestigious postgraduate and professional schools.

The Placement Office takes the initiative to explore new career avenues for graduates and post graduates through visits to new companies and unexplored sectors. Campus recruitments are organized every year.

The selection process generally starts with a pre-placement talk in which a firm/organisation gives the students insights into the company profile, job profile, career path, CTC etc. which is followed by the actual selection process i.e., written test, group discussion, interview etc.
