Sir M Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology (Sir MVIT) is a well renowned Engineering Institute in Bangalore (Karnataka). The College Sir MVIT is named after Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, a well known Engineer, Statesman and a former Diwan of Mysore. Sir MVIT was founded and established in the year 1986 by the Sri Krishnadevaraya Educational Trust (Sir KET).

• The Institute is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and is accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi. Sir MVIT is an ISO 9001:2008 Certified Institution.
• Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering and Department of Biotechnology are declared R&D centres by the university.
