Businayana Mukundadas Sreenivasaiah [BMS] is synonymous with philanthropy. He started the BMS College of Engineering in 1946. The college seeks to provide high-quality technical education.

The BMS College of Engineering [BMSCE] had ventured out with only 03 undergraduate courses. It has diversified its operations in the field of education and now has 13 undergraduate and 16 postgraduate courses to its credit. Currently there are 5000 students pursuing technical education in varying disciplines at the BMSCE.

BMSCE has completed more than 70 glorious years of imparting education to students and giving the country young and fresh talent in the field of engineering and technology. The BMS College of Engineering & Technology ranks among the top engineering colleges in the country according to various surveys.

Department Profile

Department of Computer Science & Engineering started in the year 1983 with an intake of 60 students for the undergraduate programme. The intake was increased to 90 seats in 2000, to 120 in the year 2011 and to 180 in the year 2019. UG programme of the Department was accredited from Jun-2004 to May 2007 for 3 years, Jul-2008 to Jun-2011 for 3 years, Jul-2014 to Jun-2017 for 3 years and Jul-2017 to Jun-2020 for 3 years.

The department of Computer Science & Engineering also has PG programme, M Tech (CSE) established in1992 with an intake of 18. PG programme of the Department was accredited during Jul-2017 to Jun-2022 for 5 years. The Research Centre, Department of Computer Science & Engineering started in the year 2010 under VTU, Belgaum.

The research areas of the center cover Machine learning, Cloud computing, Big data analytics, Wireless networks, Social networks analysis, Network Security, etc. Currently, there are Nine registered guides, accelerators, etc who are experts in fields like artificial intelligence, wireless networks, medical imaging accelerators, etc. There are 40 research scholars working in the research center.

To be a model center for education and training in the frontier areas of Computer Science and Engineering.

Mission

The mission of Computer Science and Engineering department is to educate students in the areas of computer science by providing best practices of teaching-learning process for careers in software industry/higher education/research.

Hostel Life:

By far, the best engineering college hostel in Bangalore. Mess food isn't up to the mark. But there are a lot of good eateries around.

There's Wi-Fi, there's LAN too. Don't expect a 20 Mbps connection. It's good enough to watch YouTube videos without buffering, most of the times. WiFi can be accessed from common halls and not from all the rooms.

Faculty:

CS department has good teachers if not the best. Engineering isn't about rote learning in class. So, I don't think it matters much.

Placements:

The best of companies, big names participate in campus placements year-on-year offering excellent career opportunities.
