What Exactly Is Chemical Engineering?

Chemical technology is a branch of technology which uses fundamentals of physics, chemistry, math, science, and economics to economically work with, produce, alter, and transport materials, substances, and energy. A chemical scientist layouts large-scale procedures which convert materials, garbage, living cells, germs, and energy to useful varieties and goods.

Chemical engineers ' are involved with several areas of plant design and performance, including hazard and safety assessments, process design and investigation, control technology, chemical reaction engineering, biological technology, structure specifications, and operating directions. Chemical technology level has been linked with most of the types of varied engineering areas.

About The Department of Chemical Engineering

Department of Chemical Engineering was started in the year 1982 to meet requirements of the emerging discipline of Chemical Engineering. Since inception it has been accredited by NBA twice for five years from 2003-2008 & 2008-2013 & twice for three years from 2015-2018 & 2018-2021.

The department offers BE Chemical Engineering under graduate, MSc(Eng) & PhD research programs. The Undergraduate BE program in Chemical Engineering is autonomous program affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi. Since 2002, the department is a recognized VTU research centre. So far four MSc(Eng) by research and nine PhDs have been awarded through the research centre.

The department has thirteen teaching faculty with specialization in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Equipment Design, Process and Product Design, etc out of which eleven are Ph.D. holders and two are pursuing Ph.D. The department has a student chapter of Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers IIChE.

Placements of College

The Department of placement & training was established as a separate entity in the year 1997. The Department started its activities in a humble way in a small one room accommodation, to cater to the needs of providing high quality placement services to the students of the Institution.

The Department presently coordinates with more than 100- 120 leading

organizations which recruits trainee engineers and GET/ PGET's for entry level positions in their respective organizations.

In the year of inception, the department modestly established contact with about 30 organizations and placed 140 number of students. With every passing year, the number of recruiting organizations have increased in geometric progression on an average about 100 to 120 nationally renowned organization visiting the campus annually and conduct their recruitment process on our campus and during the 2011 passing out batch of students, around 1058 offers have been made and 113 companies have visited.
