About College

Teaching assistantships are provided to the meritorious students while joining MTech with a monthly remuneration of up to Rs.5000. Manipal Institute of Technology was established in 1957 and founded by T. M. A. Pai.

The institute was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Mysore S. Nijalingappa and Roque Fernandes was the first President of the institute. MIT Manipal commenced with 25 faculty members. MIT attained the ‘Deemed University’ tag in the year 2000.

 MIT offers many courses in 16 streams in the Institute on different academic stages like undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate. A total of 50 programs are available in the institute out of which M. Tech and B. Tech programs have subjects like Aeronautical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Media Technology, Aerospace Engineering etc.

National Institutional Ranking Framework has ranked Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal 39 among other top engineering colleges. India Today has placed Manipal Institute of Technology on 12th position in 2017. Outlook India has ranked MIT 15th among other engineering colleges in India.

MIT Manipal Admission Process

The qualifying exam score is the deciding factor for admission in B. Tech, M. Tech or PhD engineering courses. Applicants are required to get certain JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) score and GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test Engineering) score. After JEE Main, JoSAA counselling and personal interview round take place.

Final selection for these two courses depends on the Manipal Institute of Technology counselling. PhD applicants require certain marks in the qualifying exam for admission in the program. However, the combined scores of the qualifying exam, previous exam and the interview are taken into consideration.

The Program Educational Objectives (PEOS) Of Biomedical Engineering:

Develop the ability to work in multidisciplinary environment involving Engineering and health care – by acquiring knowledge in Basic Sciences & Mathematics, Engineering and Medical Sciences.

Ability to analyse real life problems, and design healthcare solutions that are technically sound, economical, and socially acceptable.

Demonstrate professionalism, ethical attitude, communication skills, ability to work in teams, and adapt to changing trends by engaging in lifelong learning.
