Department Overview

The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering was started in the academic year 2000. The student intake for the undergraduate programme is currently 240. Students who choose to pursue further studies can opt for the Masters in VLSI Design & Embedded Systems, Signal Processing, DigItal Electronics, and Digital Communication etc. The department also offers the Master of

Technology and Ph.D. programmes.

The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is permanently affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) Belgaum, Karnataka. It has also been recognized as a Centre of Excellence, Audio & Video under VGST and Govt. of Karnataka. Accredited by National Board of Accreditation for three years.

Mission

M1: Create a staff team with a mixture of people with industrial and academic exposure, capable of inspiring, moulding and training young minds into competent professionals and an ethical resource.

M2: Impart knowledge of domains by equipping laboratories and facilitate experiential learning, experimentation and research, based on foundation of science and mathematics.

M3: Ideate and implement interdisciplinary projects and foster continuous learning in association with students and colleagues across disciplines of the institute.

M4: Collaborate with academia, industries, organizations and professional bodies for training, consultancy and research.

How is life in the CMR Institute of Technology?

CMRIT is known for its academic accolades but one often overlooks the myriad of student clubs which harness the students' true potential. Each club, be it music or theatre, cultivates a sense of holistic development in each student. These clubs promote enhancement of non-technical skills and ensure that each student manages hobbies along with academics. Apart from this we have various professional clubs like IEEE student chapter, IE student chapter and CSI student chapter.

Famous for its high quality teaching, CMRIT is also well known for its promotion of self-studying. Self-assessment tests and MOOC aimed towards encouraging problem-solving skills in students, take place regularly in all semesters. These activities allow the students to reflect on their individual performance and to improve their analytical and logical reasoning.

CMRIT has emerged as one of the eminent institutions in Bangalore, due to its state-of-the-art teaching and practical methods of learning. Many students of CMRIT have participated in several competitions and intercollegiate fests with IIT's. Many CMRIT faculty are from IISc and IIT and they regular interact with those institutes for research activities.
