Department Profile
The department receives grants from Govt. of Karnataka and offers an undergraduate program B.E, Electrical and Electronics, with a sanctioned intake of 60. The department is NBA Accredited under Tier I of Washington Accord and has a Student Faculty Ratio of 14.8:1.
The department offers M.Tech, program in Power Electronics which started in 1991 with a sanctioned intake of 18 which is also NBA Accredited. It has a research Centre under VTU since 2003. It is a recognized AICTE QIP Research Centre since 2012, AICTE NDF (National Doctoral Fellowship Scheme) Research centre since 2018.
The number of awarded Ph.Ds till date is 13 and currently 26 research scholars are pursuing their research in various domains.
The department has dedicated faculty with a wide spectrum of specialization such as, Power Systems, Power Electronics and Drives, Renewable Energy, HVDC, Power Quality, Nano Technology, High Voltage and Insulation Diagnostics and Phase Change Memory Materials.
Why did you join BMSCE?
Campus: I agree the campus is quite small compared to other private institutions, but then BMS has got everything you need packed in a small area. The advantage is you can quickly walk to two places which is not possible in the colleges with big campuses, which would make the tasks tiresome.
Hostel: There definitely is Wi-Fi. Whoever has told you contrarily doesn't have any idea. There's a high speed LAN connection provided for students in hostel.
Faculty: There are all kinds of lecturers available. There few good ones in every department and a few average and a few bad ones as well. But on a whole teaching suffices. You must by now be aware that you can't depend on lecturers completely and the onus is on you to learn the subjects.
Campus life: This is the best part that you can experience at BMSCE. Try to get into one of the clubs. Make friends of your frequency carefully and you'll have a wonderful time and won't know where the time flew. There are so many events which take place in the vicinity of BMSCE, like kadilekayi parishe( a time of year where all the groundnut harvest has arrived and they come to to basavangudi to sell the produce.) Many such interesting exotic things happen.
General atmosphere: BMS always has a spontaneous atmosphere filled with activity. There's not a single day you'll find the college empty and deserted. You can always find people discussing , having a good laughter session at Shilavana( The rock garden) ,its one of the places you'll get emotionally attached to once you are in BMSCE.

BMS College of Engineering Admission 2020
BMS College of Engineering is a private engineering college which is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Karnataka. Started with only 3 undergraduate courses, BMSCE today offers 13 Undergraduate & 16 Postgraduate courses both in conventional and emerging areas.
