Overview
The graduates in Civil Engineering degree plays a vital role in fulfilling the societal infra-structural needs and demand. With India being a developing country and one of the fastest growing economy has created wide scope for civil engineers.
The Civil Engineering degree course focuses on planning and designing of industrial and residential buildings, hydraulic structure, water supply and sanitation systems and transportation infrastructure.

What is civil engineering?
First of all, what is civil engineering? Civil engineering is the professional practice of designing and developing infrastructure projects. This can be on a huge scale, such as the development of nationwide transport systems or water supply networks, or on a smaller scale, such as the development of individual roads or buildings.
All aspects of building a structure fall under the remit of a civil engineer. This can include planning, design, budgeting, surveying, construction management and analysis, and often civil engineering careers encompass a combination of all these elements.
MIT Campus
The MIT campus is spread over 600 acres of what once used to be a desolate plateau of hard, laterite rock in north Karnataka’s Udupi district. It is home to almost 30,000 students and staff and is Wi-Fi enabled from end to end – restaurants, libraries, hostel rooms, labs and classrooms.
There are a lot of facilities to supplement classroom teaching. These facilities encourage and aid students in innovative thinking and pursuing careers of their choice.
It is also a green campus that follows eco-friendly practices. Extensive use of rain-water harvesting structures, solid-waste and waste water management systems, and constant monitoring of pollution levels ensure that ‘Green Manipal’ is a way of life for one and all.

Hostel Facility
MIT hostel rooms are comfortably-furnished and make for a good home away from home.
Girls and boys have separate blocks and each block has a fixed capacity. There is a range of accommodation options to choose from, for students’ convenience.
For first-year students, for instance, the double or triple common dorm-type accommodation gives them the comfort of company as they settle into their college and course. It also gives them opportunity to make friends and get acquainted with the campus and its facilities. In this kind of accommodation, they have access to TV room and other leisure/sports activities within the hostel premises.
Students, senior and first-year, also have the option of staying in a double-attached room.
